The Who at Tanglewood 1970 Download

It’s Finally Here!  The Who at Tanglewood 1970 upgraded with remastered audio by myself, available as a DVD download for you to enjoy!

I recently found the remastered audio to this concert on Wolfgang’s Vault, and set myself to the task of syncing it to the best video sources for this concert currently available! I hope you enjoy! I’m pretty sure Video and Audio are copyright Wolfgang’s Vault. I am only sharing this to get the word out about this!

Before downloading, or while waiting, you can watch the whole thing on YouTube!

Once downloaded, you will need to burn both the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders from the ZIP file onto a DVD, and then you’re all set to get rocking!  Read a tutorial

All syncing and dvd authoring by Connor McBrine-Ellis and HyperAct Media.  If you are interested in finding out more about us, click on the HyperAct Media link at the very top of the page.

Please leave a comment below if you enjoyed the dvd or movie, or to chat about it in general!

If you are feeling generous, please donate to Connor for all his time spent working on this project! It might entice him to work on another Who video production! ;)

If you came here and you own the rights to this movie and would like to request that I remove this download link I will definitely do it, I’m just not sure who owns this at the moment, and also this movie is being shared elsewhere as a ROIO bootleg, it’s just that this is the best possible version.  Let the fans have it – they’ll find other ways of getting ahold of this!

DVD is great – but odd thing with the audio – if I use my standard setup of s/pdif optical dolby-d I get nothing through the subwoofer and everything is kind of muddy – analog audio connection sounds fine. I’ve never done any DVD mastering so I don’t know what controls that mix.

Hmm I honestly have no idea why that would be. Is your S/PDIF output fine with EVERY other dvd? Or could it possibly be on your end?

Let me know. Thanks!

Downloaded file (twice!), but can’t unzip it to burn it.

Hi guys, what are you using to unzip? Perhaps what you are using might be causing a problem. I use WinRar.

Hi Connor,

Is the audio bitrate of the download superior to the YouTube version? I think YouTube’s audio bitrate is approx 125kbps. I own an official DVD with 3 Tanglewood tracks on with an audio bitrate of 224kbps @ 48Khz, just wondering if your download is similar?

Yes Im pretty sure the audio is 224 (that’s the usual AC3 dvd bitrate so yeah).
In any case it sounds 1000 times better than the youtube videos, mainly because youtube did something to the youtube videos that made them sound all warbly. I cant explain it.

It’s too bad the audio was still lossy sourced (ripped from the lossy Wolfgang’s Vault source). Hopefully some lossless audio of this show will leak at some point.

Conner,

Can I use Toast Titanium to burn this on my mac? Usually all Titanium uses is the Video-TS folder and not any Audio-TS folder. I use TT with Fairmount to make copies of my dvds all the time. Just not use the about the audio-ts folder.

Thanks.

Usually you’re fine with ignoring the audio-ts folder, but if it’s any problem let me know. Toast should work fine. I used ImgBurn for Windows, which worked well for me, it’s a free program (in case toast doesn’t work).

Connor McBrine-Ellis July 23, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Yes I believe you can do that. Audio-ts doesn’t usually matter. I think only Audio DVDS with ONLY audio use that folder anyways.

I’m having no success with this. I downloaded Winrar and IMGBurn. Downloaded the Tanglewood files to Winrar but when I try to extract them, it says the files are empty.

I’m tempted to ask someone if they can do this for me (for which I’d pay). I’m having so many technical difficulties :(

Forget my last two comments: it downloaded OK on the 4th attempt. Successfully burnt to DVD but the picture quality is really poor from Acid Queen onwards. Is this how it is on the original or am I doing something wrong?

Reply

Connor McBrine-Ellis June 18, 2011 at 7:19 am

Glad you got it working. This is how it is on the original unfortunately. It’s good that the audio quality stays though! If you’ve ever seen the worse quality copy of this the video and audio are much worse. This is the best quality available of the show as of right now.

Try again. Or try using a download manager for your browser. It can help prevent file downloads from being corrupted along the way. The guy who commented as Leo said he had to try a couple times before it worked. Sorry I can’t help you more. I guess I should do this as a bittorrent download instead. It’s easier this way for me instead.

Great job Conner. Thank you VERY much, Had to dload a few times but eventually all 4 GB showed up. Really nice footage and GREAT to watch seamlessly via DVD burn. And the sound quality it outstanding as well. You’re right – This IS the best quality available of the show as of right now.

Thanks so much for trying again. I am looking into why so many people are having trouble downloading the dvd. Were you able to play it on a standard dvd player?

Yes until wolfgang’s vault releases the complete show (providing that the master reels are available ANYWHERE for the second half of the show after christmas I Think – I heard they might have been stolen) this is the best we’ve got. I for some reason feel that the audio on the Max RnB dvd for the tanglewood clips is mixed better than here though. Maybe they mixed in more of the audience mics allowing for a nice reverb effect.

Anyways. Thanks for downloading!

Yeah – It plays fine in my “Colby” DVD player. The 1st time I tried dloading we had a very breif power failure – didn’t even cause a reboot. I had 15 minutes to go but it came up as incomplete. 2nd time it only dloaded 2GB but 3rd attempt got all 4.1 GB. And it unzipped just fine with winzip. Certainly WELL worth every attempt. Thanks again Conner – job well done ! ! !

Connor, thanks for downloading. I’ve got one of the last who shows with keith moon with two cameras on VHS, if I sent you a sample and we look for the audio, would you be willing to improve it and download it. I’ve got lots of Zeeppelin, yes, ELP, Taste and many others on VHS and DVD. Thanks for this who show, it means a lot to me. I actually met them(except keith moon) when I was in college in the US during the 90s up to 2006.

I’d totally be interested in improving any sort of who show, ESPECIALLY one from their last few shows – those are my favs (the 1975/1976 tour was absolutely incredible, I’ve got many bootlegs from the tour myself, but no video except for Houston).

Let me know how you’d like to get some sort of a sample to me – perhaps youtube?

Glad you enjoyed the tanglewood show – it’s pretty awesome.
